Liberty Athletics NIL - House Settlement Update
The landscape of collegiate athletics is constantly changing. Liberty Athletics mission is to Train Champions for Christ while providing opportunities to compete at the highest level of college athletics. Part of providing resources to our student-athletes and competing at the highest level includes player compensation.
For the past few years NIL transactions have been processed through two collectives which have done an incredible job of supporting our teams during a very uncertain time. We have exciting news to share that with the NCAA house settlement; Liberty Athletics will begin revenue sharing with all student-athletes and processing NIL donations in house.
If you have been making contributions to a collective, those contributions will now be processed by the Flames Club through Sport Excellence Funds. This allows donors to receive loyalty points and a tax deduction for any excellence fund contribution. Donors will also receive loyalty points for collective gifts made over the past 3 years.
The Flames Club will continue to exist to support wholistic student-athlete development. This is developing our student-athletes academically, physically, socially, and most importantly spiritually. To do that we have outlined the best way to support Liberty Athletics as well as a breakdown of what each fund does. How To Support Liberty Athletics Financially
Step 1: Annual Fund - Select your membership level and receive ticket and parking benefits for that donation. The Annual Fund supports Liberty Athletics operating budget. Donations to the Annual Fund support all NCAA Division 1 teams on the mountain and help offset the cost of running a highly competitive athletic department. Donations to the Annual Fund are not fully tax-deductible as there are benefits associated with them. We recommend talking to your tax advisor for more information.
Step 2: Further Support - Once you have selected your annual fund level, you can further support Liberty athletes through the fund that connects most with you. All gifts to any of these funds are 100% tax deductible.
Each team has an excellence fund that can be used at the discretion of the head coach with approval from the Athletics Director. Sport Excellence Funds go to support things like player compensation, team travel, and team experiences.
This is a spiritual development fund to support non-competition based missions trips for student-athletes throughout the year.
Starting at Olympic sport lockers for $1,000 and going up to naming a stadium, leave your legacy or promote your business through a naming opportunity. Funds raised through legacy giving go to support the Liberty Athletics Capital Fund which goes to maintain and renovate Liberty's athletic facilities.
